Enough about ME, let's talk about YOU.

Really.  I mean it.

I mean, come on.

THIS IS ME:
Posing me
THIS IS ME:

Swimming me

THIS IS ME:

Idiotic Monkey Hat me

                                                  THIS IS ME: http://gaepolisner.com/html/ya.html,

Honestly, still two months to go, and I AM SO VERY SICK OF ME!!!

Seriously.

So, I can only imagine how all of you feel.

And already today, my inbox is full of requests for more me (the "YA Universe" is an interesting and fabulous place, but one UNTO ITSELF, with a nearly insatiable appetite for new information about YA authors that the rest of the world don't give two shits about). And yet, there's the need to be out there in it, to keep up, to get my name and my book out there. And, I'm grateful for it. Truly.

But I'm also so very sick of me.

So, do me a favor. Tell me something neat about you. Something I might not know but want to. Your favorite book, a great movie you saw, the best thing that's happened to you this year. What frustrated you yesterday. A link to something you really, really want me to read.

Enough about me, I want to hear about you. Honestly. But, in one neat place where I know where to find it, here.

I'm waiting. So go ahead.

  1. This is a tough request, Gae. There are things I wouldn't mind telling you, but do I want to tell these things to the world?

Okay, here's something. I have this novel that's not quite genre and not quite literary fiction. I don't know what it is. It's kind of like Clan of the Cave Bear written by a post-modernist. I"m struggling with the right approach to fixing it.

    How's that?

  2. It's me, and I'm VERY frustrated that one of the lids to my cool retro, aluminum, Oscar the Grouch style garbage cans that I bought last week to replace the Rubbermaid ones that blew away during a windstorm got run over this morning and is now crushed flat

oh, and my book, Alchemy, is available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and possibly a book store near you

  5. I didn't realize we were allowed to pimp our books. Um, A Body at Rest is available online at B&N or Amazon or Powells or special order at your local indie bookstore (and it's on sale this week in honor of Read an E-Book Week).

    That is all.

Oh, and the troublesome novel all started when my brother said, "Why don't you write a story about the guy who wrote the story of Adam and Eve?" But then it evolved into an allegory (or maybe a fable) on how power and authority can corrupt paradise.

And I feel bad about Mike's garbage can lid too because those old Oscar the Grouch retro style cans are nice.

  9. Gae, I hesitate to share this with you. But the fact of the matter is that I have but one pair of Gold Toe socks.

  10. I got a rejection on a full today, but it was very nicely worded and indicated that someone at least skimmed it. So, both a frustration and a silver lining.

    I don't have a favorite anything. I'm easily swayed.

  11. I read my horoscope every day. LIke religiously. Even if it doesn't make a damn bit of difference to my day/life. I used to read magazines all the time, and now they just pile up unread on the family room table. Why? I go through these intense solitary game phases: crosswords, cryptic crosswords, sudoku, solitaire. I get obsessed with one or the other for a period of time -- and then it's over.

Wow. I'm pretty boring. Sorry, Gae.

  12. Jim, say it isn't so.

    Erica, yay to silver linings.

Deb, do you remember Games Magazine. When it was good I mean. When we were YA's? Yeah, I miss that.

  13. Man alive, do I understand what you are saying here. I generally am a private and somewhat awkward person so all this marketing stuff just feels unnatural...and too much at times.

something about me not book related? I have two sisters with the same name...Debbie Ann.

    Swear.

  15. I'm not going to get sick of you, Gae... Just not happening... And I definitely can't top Christine's news. In fact that's something I will never say again, barring unforeseen miraculous accident, as Mr. Tart has been snipped. There... bet you didn't know THAT.

  17. I recently saw Diary of a Madman with Geoffrey Rush at BAM and his performance was fantastic - the second act did not live up to the incredible promise of the first but still pretty amazing. I'm looking forward to see Derek Jacobi in King Lear in May and Tom Stoppard's Arcadia in June. Gettin' my theater on this spring. Any suggestions for a show for me and my 7 year old niece, she's already seen Mary Poppins and orchestra seats at Lion King are like $200 each! And I saw Frances and she and I chatted about...wait for it...YOU! So we're back to you! And I know you love theater!
